Natural Resources Preservations

The US Virgin Islands are rich with natural resources. Natural resources of the USVI include its coral reefs and mangroves forests. Coral reefs in the ocean outside of the USVI, National Park support a thriving ecosystem of fish, plants and shellfish. These coral reefs are also used by the government as tourist attractions, making the an integral part of Virgin Islands National Park by installing signs within the coral reef for divers to examine and observe. The Islands' locations within the temperate zone and surrounded by a rich echo system provided by the Caribbean Sea allows its population and visitors ample chances to view their natural resources.

Although being a low populated region and emitting very low carbon levels, the USVI and other Caribbean Islands and territories are the most vulnerable to the effects of climate change. The coral reefs are the main focus of the nature preservation initiatives in the region. Since corals are the lifeblood of the Caribbean Sea, sustaining fisheries, protecting coastlines and supporting a prosperous tourism industry.

Considering that natural tourism is part of the USVI large income generator, wild life preservation organizations provides visitors and local residents alike valid and truthful information on the importance of taking care of their surroundings.
