We also have a handout on the same topic which may be copied and distributed for our island visitors.

Bureau of Environmental Education.

The goal of the Environmental Education Program is to provide information to the public on the importance of our natural resources, including our fish, wildlife, their habitats and pressing environmental issues. So that you may make informed decisions about our local environment.

The Bureau of Environmental Education is reaching out to encourage high school and college students to participate in research and educational projects in the U.S. Virgin Islands. We produce educational materials about our local flora, fauna and the environment.

Due to recent budget constraints, and to increase their availability we have begun to digitize our old hard (paper) copies and make them available on this web site, so you do not have to come to our office to use them. Making these materials available digitally ensures that you will continue to have access to them where ever you may be located. The materials and programs produced and administered by the Bureau include:

We are a partner with the Virgin Island Network of Environmental Educators (VINE). The VINE network provides materials, programs and other resources to allow you (our VI educators) to provide our students with a comprehensive Environmental Education experience. A wide variety of presentations are available for local teachers and educators upon request. You let us know what you are looking for and we will help you find the resources you need.

Take a look at our Natural Resources Brochures, they explain the importance of our beach treasures (shells, corals, etc.) being left on the beach.
